MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF
WEALD PARISH COUNCIL
HELD ON THE 19th March, 2014
PRESENT: Mrs R Wood (in the Chair), Mr G Davie, Mr D Marchant, Mr J Blackman, Mrs C Beddoe, and Mrs Harris.
In attendance were District Councillor Thornton, the clerk and several members of the public.
APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE – District Councillor Hogarth and Mrs J Mannering.
DECLARATION OF INTEREST – there was none.
MINUTES OF THE MEETING HELD ON 19th February, 2014 – the Minutes were accepted as an accurate record and were so acknowledged by the signature of the Chairman.
4. MATTERS ARISING
(1) Update on the tennis court redevelopment
The clerk confirmed the the school had been notified on the Parish Council’s decision to increase its contribution to £20,000 to the planned redevelopment subject to the satisfaction of the three conditions in the Statement issued by the Parish Council on 20th March, 2013.
The Parish Council noted that the PTA had launched a public fund raising been to bridge the current funding gap to undertake the project.
(2) Update on the Methodist Church
The clerk advised that there had been no developments as the Parish Council is still waiting to hear from Knole Estate on the renewal of the Parish Council’s lease of the village green.
(3) Precept 2014/2015
On the recommendation of the clerk it was agreed that the Precept for 2014/2015 should be set at £37,000 a 3.7% increase on the current precept. The clerk advised that this increase is required to meet the increasing cost of ground maintenance and other services provided by the Parish Council and also to provide a reserve to support future community projects.
The Meeting was adjourned at 8.00 p.m.

7. ANY OTHER BUSINESS
The clerk advised that a Land Registry search confirmed that Weald’s Methodist Chapel is owned by the Methodist Church.
The clerk reported that a play ground inspection had been conducted by Playsafety Limited (ROSPA) and no area of concern were identified only small scale remedial work is required on some of the equipment. The clerk will arrange for this remedial work to be undertaken.
