From Rosie Wood, Chairman of the Parish Council

It is with great pleasure the Parish Council are able to give the following “good-news up-dates” prior to our next Parish Meeting on October 25th 2017.

The Methodist Chapel

Having spent several months observing necessary protocol, we are delighted to announce that, at long last renovation work can commence at the beginning of next week on the Methodist Chapel.

We are anxious that access to the Memorial Hall and Shop is not disrupted anymore than necessary when, for instance, digging trenches for the new water pipes.

The Parish Council will be working alongside the builders to ensure that minimum inconvenience is caused and adequate notice is given for such work.  However, we would be grateful if members of the public affected could make us aware of any particular times or events when trench digging should be avoided!

New Defibrillator

The Parish Council have been lucky enough to have been offered a ‘nearly new’ defibrillator, free of charge from Sevenoaks First Responders, courtesy of Rosie Withenshaw.

We are exceedingly grateful to them for this gift and a meeting will be held shortly to decide on the best position for such equipment.

We are leaning towards the outside of the Chapel as this site will benefit from being manned on a daily basis once the shop moves to its new premises and is within easy reach for most.

The Bus Service

As recently posted on this site, we would like to thank Lucy Harris for her perseverance in getting the new GO-COACH service installed for our village.  Much of the credit goes to her and we are very grateful to have clung on this service.  Please use it or lose it!

We are truly delighted at the support our new Community shop has received and our thanks go to all those that make it such a success on a daily basis – it has indeed united the village of Weald!

We look forward to welcoming members of the public at our next meeting when we aim to share our latest months work within the Parish, and follow up individual portfolio reports from my fellow colleagues.

Rosie Wood
Chairman

Christmas rubbish and recycling collections 2017

Sevenoaks District Council will be working extra days over Christmas and New Year so you don’t miss out on a rubbish and recycling collection.

Most collections will take place one day later than usual except the Christmas day collection on Monday 25 December, which will take place two days earlier on Saturday 23 December.

If you receive a garden waste collection, the changes will apply to this service too.

Please refer to the table below for details.

The Council has asked that you put your sacks and bins out at 7am on your revised collection day to help prevent attracting animals and the build-up of litter.
